Children's Ministry

We are excited to have your child join us in their journey of growing in their faith. It is a responsibility that we don’t take lightly as we partner with you to teach your child of God’s love for them! We hope that this year will help your child learn to love and serve God and each other in a Christ centered way.

Please make sure to register your child before dropping him or her off for Sunday School by filling out our registration form which will alert us of any allergies or medical conditions. You can leave the form with either your child’s Sunday School teacher or with Lucile Cutlar, our Volunteer Coordinator.

The children will be gathering together every first Sunday of the month for Children’s Chapel in the “A” frame, led by Pastor Jim with guitar music by Noah Odum. After chapel, the children will have an activity together and then join their parents for Holy Communion. All other weeks each child will go to his or her class which is broken down into ages pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten, 1^st-2^nd graders, and 3^rd-5^th graders. Our 6^th graders have the opportunity to be teacher’s assistants and will help with the activities. Each class will explore the same lessons from the Bible that we will be hearing in church and will participate in an activity.

This year your child will have the opportunity to earn Bible Bucks. Bible Bucks are our incentive program to encourage children to attend and participate in our Sunday School program. They earn them by attending Sunday School class ($1), returning last week’s activity sheet signed by a parent indicating that you discussed it together ($5), bringing a friend who has never come to our church before ($5), and by participating in group activities ($1). Children can redeem them at the Bible Bucks Store when open for little prizes. It’s up to them if they want to save them up or spend them, but it’s their responsibility to keep them as they are “like cash”.

The Sunday School will also be collecting an offering. Children can bring in their offering and put it in God’s Global Barnyard at offering time. Providing your child with an offering will help teach him or her about stewardship and offering. The money they bring in each week goes to support the ELCA’s World Hunger Appeal. Our goal is to raise $500 to buy a cow in support of this ministry. You can learn more about God’s Global Barnyard at www.elca.org/goodgifts.
